Square Enix’s Tokyo Game Show Offerings
Perhaps one of the biggest bombshells dropped by the gaming industry this year was the fact that Finaly Fantasy XIII will be available for the Xbox 360. Aside from this announcement, there’s really not much more to expect from Square Enix, other than their new title for the PSP. This year, Square Enix will be bringing 25 titles to the show, but only six of them are directly related to the Final Fantasy franchise. Of those twenty five games, only nine of them will be playable, which means development on the other sixteen games has either just started, or they’re releasing concept ideas only.
For those who own a PSP and have been looking forward to a bit of good news, Dissidia: Final Fantasy will be one of the playable titles at the Game Show, so PSP owners should be licking their chops in anticipation of new gameplay footage. Aside from this bit of news, we’re not expecting to see much else, especially in the way of Final Fantasy XIII, or even the PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII. This is likely a bit of bad news for all Final Fantasy fans, as it seems each time Square Enix makes an announcement, it’s directly opposite what gamers were hoping for. We’ll have to wait and see until the Game Show, but hopefully gamers won’t have to resort to other publishers to get their RPG kicks this year.
