Square Enix To Address 18 Hour Boss Battles In FFXI
After plenty of media coverage and the decision of one very responsible guild, Square Enix has finally noticed that their 18-hour long boss battles were just a bit too much for the players of Final Fantasy XI Online. We recently covered how one guild decided that instead of pushing through the battle and attempting to defeat the boss, they would actually bow out rather than let their members become physically ill.
The game developers have created a patch that will decrease the difficulty level of the specific boss in question, Pandemonium Warden, and two other end game bosses known as Absolute Virtue and Jailer of Love. This patch unfortunately won’t be hitting the game until late September.
What’s also interesting to note is the fact that Final Fantasy XI Online is now over six years old. This game has still managed to draw in enough new players for additional content to make it’s way into the game and even make it an issue of video game debate. If the guild had decided to continue and any of their members had become sick or worse, would the media have spun it in the fashion it is now? Has this brought on the acceptance of a responsible MMORPG gamer in the world?
