Square Enix has been expanding the titles that they are currently going to be offering over in Europe as of late. One of the most recent additions to that line up is Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. This title originally appeared on the Playstation One and is now headed for a completely updated remix on the Nintendo DS.

Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure has been described by critics and the developers alike as a very easy to understand and learn RPG. This is definitely the type of title that would be perfect to introduce someone to RPG’s. Square Enix has just announce the release of Disgaea DS for PAL territories. President and CEO of Square Enix, John Yamamoto stated, “I am pleased that we are able to bring Disgaea DS to players in Europe and PAL territories. Nippon Ichi has created a game perfectly suited for portable play that will entertain and challenge in equal measure.”. The game originally was released as Disgaea: Hour of Darkness for the PS2 and caught on enough to merit a title on the Playstation Portable as well. The DS title will be a updated port of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Players will be able to experience a new duel system and multiplayer battles. Final Fantasy IV: The After Coming To WiiWare/DS?

Over in Japan they seem to get all that great stuff that we’re just chomping at the bit for. Take for example, Final Fantasy IV: The After. But it looks like we could possibly be lucky enough to see this title make it’s way over to either WiiWare or the Nintendo DS in the near future.

The current game format is episodic, keeping many people captivated by it’s game play. With the release of Final Fantasy IV for the DS gaining so much popularity, Square Enix has been considering simply porting the popular cell phone game over. North American fans are already reacquainted with the characters, so it would be easy to capitalize on the popularity.

A Response From Tecmo

With the deal between Square Enix and Tecmo officially over, it’s confusing to see why they made the decision they did without knowing all of the information. We’ve already revealed that the decision to turn down Square Enix’s offer was done solely by Tecmo due to their intention of joining forces with Koei Co.. Even though together as a company they would merely equate one third the total value of Square Enix.

So why exactly did they reject it? Well Tecmo firmly believes that they will be able to offer their shareholders something much more beneficial then the merger with Square Enix. While it’s not exactly clear what they’ll be able to offer from accepting the proposal from Koei Co., Tecmo has also stated that if they cannot provide that benefit for their stockholders they will be exploring alternatives that would be more advantageous for them overall.
