Japan To Enjoy Square Enix Virtual Space
Apparently Japan gets all the cool stuff!
Square Enix has announced that they will be launching a new online flash-based virtual world known as Nicotto Town. Coupled with the popular Japanese internet service provider Nifty, Nicotto will be a completely new franchise for Square Enix that will focus more on the casual market than anything else. In a bold move, there won’t be any familiar Square Enix characters in Nicotto Town either.
So if you can’t pretend your Cloud Strife, then what can you do in Nicotto Town? Well, you’ll be able to create your own avatar and dress them up in plenty of different clothing varieties as you chat with fellow citizens of the town. There will even be a few mini-games for you to try your virtual hand at as well.
You’ll also have your own home and garden, which maintaining it will be more like Animal Crossing then harvest moon. And of course, there’s always money to be had to buy more pretty hats.
If this is your cup of web-tea and you’re living in Japan, Nifty has announced that the beta sign up period will run between August 22nd and September 5th on their official website.
