The Anicent Forest is a secret location south of Cosmo Canyon. There are two ways of accessing the forest. First you can raise a Green, Black or Gold Chocobo and running up the mountainous region where its located. The second way of accessing the forest is by defeating the renegade weapon, Ultimate Weapon (view corresponding section for information on how to locate and defeat Ultimate Weapon). The defeat of Ultimate Weapon will cause an explosion that creates a path. If you want to access the Anicent Forest prior to the end of Disc 3, you'll have to use the first Chocobo method.

Upon entering, you'll need to use frogs to access the next region of the Anicent Forest. In the forest, there are also some good or rare items that you'll find usefull within the Anicent Forest. Another Vincent Valentine weapon, the Supershot ST, one Red XIII weapon, the Spring Gun Clip, one Slash-All materia, a woman's only accessory, the Minerva Band, one rare, triple-AP weapon for Cloud, the Apocalyspe and one Elixir. If you happen to screw up with the frog placement, then press the square button to return to the begining of the Anicent Forest.
