Wihout fail, anyone that extracts and exploits the mass popluation will eventually show such resistance to exploitation, such as the case of a group of eco-warriors, dubbed Avalanche, each member of the group has felt such pain and scars. Avalanche's raids on the major corperation the Shinra Electric Power Company has left them with a situtation where the resistance must be eliminated. Avalanche's targeted raids were on Shinra's Power Plants, supplying the company with the wellspring of life, the energy that fuels Avalanche's resolve.

Mako a source of energy, is fueled and mined from the earth. However that source is not everlasting; Mako, like other fossil fuels, are finite but Shinra's mass propganda creates such a facade. The planet is dieing, with every ounce of Mako energy extracted, causes the planet to slowly wither. Realizing this danger, Avalanche's mission is to eliminate Shinra's entire existance, to save to planet from an impending end. A cold-hearted mercenary, Cloud Strife, accepts the mission from Avalanche regardless of whether the cause of the guerilla-tactical group is noble, or if the resisting force is the superpower that should be defended. Until the events of the mission Cloud was sent on passes. That mission expands to a journey that changes his very soul.
