review
Although the so-called
magical world of Final Fantasy X engaged me into as most other Final Fantasies have before, the sequel itself is utter disapointment comparatively to other Final Fantasy installments. The first view of a sequel in the Final Fantasy world sparked much interest into the title's complexities in the Final Fantasy series. With seldom development and a dreadful plot, Final Fantasy X-2's success is only due from its predecessor's previous sucess, and the masses' obtrusive desire to solve the mystery of Final Fantasy X. With only premature desires of Final Fantasy X-2, do not be fooled at a "greatest hits" mark, it's success is only due to premature assumptions about the greatness of this sequel.
Answering only one question to the unanswered world of Final Fantasy X could have been an easy task - making into a full-fleged title is unbelievably wrong. Forcing this undevelopment for this story becomes a serious issue, all of these new characters seen are extremely underdeveloped. Their motives are confusing and they lack the emotional development seen in Final Fantasy X or rather any other installment in the series. As well, the additive function of a character who looks exactly like Tidus and another who looks terribly close to Yuna doesn't make a good plot at all, it mainly functions at a level of medicore to pure stupidity of a plot.
Side by side and all in all, we can obviously can't deny the superb level of the graphics in this title. Although the graphics are amazing, I sure as heck can't spill it out for more than two sentences. The gameplay is redeming to this title as well, although the dressphere system is not amazing, it still delievers a clear focal point as a good point for this title. The Active Time Battle system's revitialization is another good reason for Final Fantasy X-2's redemption from an absolutely dismal score.
Although it's major shortcomings in plot and development, Final Fantasy X-2's only reason to actual play this title, is merely for the look and gameplay of it, with a dismal plot and mindless new characters, Final Fantasy X-2 is a terrible title and just proves sequels are always terrible.
overall score: 5.8/10 - terrible
