Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors

Dragon Quest SwordsSquare Enix is working hard to bring us the newest installment in the Dragon Quest series of games. The first Dragon Quest game was released in 1986 (under the name Dragon Warrior in North America) in much anticipation of its failure because of its theme which experts didn’t think will stick with gamers. As it happens, the game beat expectations to become one of the most popular games of all times spawning numerous sequels.

The much expected latest Dragon Quest Swords spin off game will be released in February 2008 exclusively for the Wii. Dragon Quest Swords gives a first person perspective view of the action and it is specifically written for playing it on the Wii and taking advantage of its revolutionary Remote simulating the hero’s sword. Nintendo Wii’s unique input device will allow players to enjoy the Dragon Quest adventure at a whole other level assuming that the implementation is well done. Players assume the identity of a 16-year old boy who has to defend the kingdom of Avalonia and his queen from an invading army of monsters. As the story progresses, information about who unleashed the monsters and ordered them to attack will become available adding an interesting storyline and mystery to the action game.

Japanese game enthusiasts have enjoyed Dragon Quest Swords since July 2007 but those of us in North America will only get the chance to play starting February 19th.
